Example Place Holder Model

I've seen this method used with a forest tutorial, they used low poly place holders to see how it looked all together without the lag of the high poly models.
I thought this would work for seeing how we basically want our model to look after we've decided on a design first.

I also thought it was a better way for two people to model different parts of the same thing.
(This is in no way shape or form a design, it's just for this example) For example;

So essentially it's like this file is like Unity and all the place holders are the assets, we take a place holder, make them in Maya (I know this is currently in Blender, Shh!) then import them back into the main file.
Whether this will actually work or whether I'm just gonna be making more work for the group I don't know, doesn't hurt to try.
